Summary: further back down your throat (see diagram below). Above the soft palate, about even with the palatine and lingual tonsils lie two similar masses of tissue called the Adenoids . These complete the tonsilar ring , so called because the palatine tonsils, lingual tonsils and adenoids form a complete ring of tonsilar tissue surrounding the throat
