Tongue Pimples

bumps on tongue + numbness .. oral cancer?

the other day i noticed some bumps at the very back of my tongue, where it starts going down my throat. there pretty big and roundish and smooth. i have more than one and i never noticed them before. theres also a few little tiny red bumps that you can barley see at the front of my tongue. it also feels as though my tongue has been burnt or something .. even thought it hasnt been. i also have swollen lymph nodes. i had a sinus infection a few weeks ago, but there still not gone even though the infection is. is there a chance this could be oral cancer? im really worried and i have a doctors appt. but its not till tuesday. thankss =]

  1. Most likely just enlarged tongue papillae. If your lymph nodes continue to be big, you should consider getting a biopsy.
  2. sounds like ulcers...
  3. Now don't be thinking about it that way. It sounds like an allergy to something you drank. Think back and try to remember if you had something with a strong acid content, maybe some kind of juice, or something along that line. My Mom ran into that one time. Maybe you tried out a new kind of tooth paste. Ronald
  4. I've had about 4 or 5 little red bumps on the back of my tongue since I was 16 years old and I go to the dentist twice a year and they have never said anything about them to me or nor have I asked so I'm pretty sure it's common. Oral cancer mostly occurs in those who smoke from what I have heard.
  5. Is your throat sore? Could be the start of strep throat....
  6. sounds like u chew snuff and a doctors appointment would be very smart i recently quit and im going to the doctors and dentists to get checked out
  7. The symptoms mentioned by you are not clear and it also does not suggest any oral or throat cancer. It will be difficult to tell with the above symptoms and it has to be assessed by a physician. It may be even just ordinary inflammation or sort of mouth ulcer. So please see your doctor and he will assess the position. In the meantime please note the following about throat cancer and its symptoms. If you find any such thing take immediate action. Throat cancer involves cancer of the part of your throat just behind your mouth. Periodic self-examination of your mouth is the best way to detect the early signs of oral and throat cancer. And, when detected early, oral cancer is almost always successfully treated. Unfortunately, many oral and throat cancers are far advanced by the time a doctor is made aware of the situation. This is because oral and throat cancers are usually painless in their early stages or have minor symptoms similar to other health problems, such as a toothache. An early indication of oral and throat cancer is one or more changes in the way the soft tissues of your mouth usually look or feel. Signs and symptoms may include: * A sore in your mouth that doesn't heal or increases in size * Persistent pain in your mouth * Lumps or white, red or dark patches inside your mouth * Thickening of your cheek * Difficulty chewing or swallowing or moving your tongue * Difficulty moving your jaw, or swelling or pain in your jaw * Soreness in your throat or feeling that something is caught in your throat * Pain around your teeth, or loosening of your teeth * Numbness of your tongue or elsewhere in your mouth * Changes in your voice * A lump in your neck * Bad breath Most oral cancers arise on the lips, tongue or on the floor of the mouth. They also may occur inside your cheeks, on your gums or on the roof of your mouth.-
