Tongue Pimples

Little white bumps on my tongue, serious answers only!?

Every once in a while I get a couple very small (smaller than a pin head) painless white bumps under my tongue, that hang around for a while, and then just disappear for no reason. What are these? They don't hurt, they are very small, white, and nothing really seems to bring them on but they last for a bit and then go away. They are on the BOTTOM like underside of my tongue, and it's not an std because I was just tested, and so was my BF. I got them before I was sexually active anyways. It almost is like a zit on my tongue or something? Calcium deposit? It's not a cold sore, I know what a cold sore is, it's not a canker sore either. They are painless. Very small. Kinda hard like a pimple, and I can pop them. I have like 3 little ones. I KNOW IT"S NOT A CANKER SORE OR A COLD SORE, AND IT'S NOT AN STD.

  1. I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE.I've had similar things from time to time and I was just as concerned as you are. It turned out to be nothing. In my case it was just blocked salivary glands which blew out and caused these odd lumps. No pain, no discharge. After a couple of days they started to go away on their own. My Doc never saw something like that before and was fascinated as well. Still wise to get them checked out though. Oh and check out that site.
  2. It could be sialoliths starting. I remember reading something about them in my textbook from dental assisting. They look like what you are describing..... They are 'stones' or bacteria that are blocking the salivary gland. You can have your dentist check or look them up on a google search.
  3. Pimples can occur on any part of the body including lips, tongue, butts, face, etc. Pimples on tongues are not that common, you shouldn't pop a pimple that's on your tongue because the bacteria from inside the pimple will spread around your mouth and can cause a much larger outbreak. A way to get rid of these is to gargle hydrogen peroxide or ask your dentist or doctor for a script for "magic mouthwash" It may take a couple days to work the first time but it WILL cut down on the size of the pimples and amount, as well as frequency of occurrences. I've also heard that the Breath RX stuff at Walgreen's and Rite Aid can help clear up swollen taste buds and other things on your tongue. I know this isn't a swollen taste bud, I'm just saying it helps with those as well.
