Tongue Pimples

what are those little bumps on our tongue that sometimes become raised. Why do we want to chew them off?

1. they are tastebuds. they swell up because of sensory overload. you should not chew them off but let them return to normal size.
2. they are taste buds and they have nerve endings there are several reasons why they woudl become iritated and become inflamed like that and its human nature to want to bite them
3. How come although they hurt you can't help but rub it on your teeth? They are taste buds, but I have no Idea why we seem to make them worse by biting them off. I usually pinch it off with my fingernails. Even though it hurts like anything.
