Tongue Pimples

I have a recurring bump on the right side of my tongue -it appears every 2-3 weeks. Anyone know what this is?

Sometimes the bump is painful and sensitive, other times I can it does not hurt at all. The bump will be very sensitive and noticiable for about a week and then will go away for about 2-3 weeks before re-appearing, it is always in the exact same spot. Has any one had similar symptoms or have any guesses at what a bump like this would be?

  1. okay I'm no doctor and I'm sure you've read yahoo's disclaimer about medical advice. so here goes: could be your tooth enamel is changing, evolving and the rubbing of the tooth against the tongue could be causing irration. you might have a small infection. either way you might want to rinse your mouth with some warm or hot as you can tolerate salted water. another item to check out is tinture of White Oak bark.
  2. It may be from the Herpes virus, the same virus which causes cold sores. It can cause ulcer-like lesions in different areas of the mouth in some individuals. Unfortunately, you can't get rid of the virus, but you can keep it from getting a superinfection from bacteria. Whenever you feel it's appearing again, try rinsing your mouth with warm salty water, or with a chlorhexidine, or tetracycline, or sage tea mouthwash. Be careful with the chlorhexidine mouthwash, as using it too much can stain your teeth. Increasing your vitamin B intake may also help.
