What illness causes sore bumps on the back of tongue and in throat?
have had them with cold and my husband has them also. they are all over the back of our tongue and we both have ichy troats and i have a sore throat. The bumps are red, not white. Some are little and some are about the size of a small pea. No white one's though! Any other possibilities?

- Mononucleosis
- Strep, and some STDs. I would highly recomend going to a doctor because if it is strep, then it could evolve into scarlet fever, and if it is something else, then you need to seek immedate medical treatement. However, if it is strep (which is what it sounds like) then a good round of antibiotics will take care of it.
- Well you need to be seen by MD but I would guess you may have strep throat. It causes white patches which are actually little puss pockets on the back of throat. It is also possible if you have been on antibiotic or someone you are intimate with has been on antibiotic that you have thrush. Either way it needs to be treated by medical doctor.
