Tongue Pimples

White bump under tongue surronding piercing? Normal or No?

I got my tongue pierced in April. It took about 2 weeks to feel 100% again and I changed the bar. However a white bump surrounding the bar formed on the bottom of my tongue. I kept my tongue ring in for awhile(month?) ...no change. However it didnt hurt at all. It was like hard white skin almost??? Anyways I was so sick of it and was scared that after about a month and a half I took out my tongue piercing. In a week, two at the most the white bump was gone. Now my tongue is 100% and I want to try and get it done again. Should I or was it infected before? It didnt hurt and there was no discharge in my mouth, no foul smell, nothing but that white bump. Do you think i'll be able to get my tongue done again?

  1. It wasn't infected. Sometimes tongue piercings can develop a white spot when the bar is too short for your tongue. You should be able to get it done again about 6-8 weeks after you took it out. They may not be able to pierce in the same spot due to scar tissue.
  2. the white skin could have been a little sore or blister from the jewellery, you shouly have waited longer than 2 weeks before taking it out, that could leave scar tissue
  3. It's possible it was a bit of scaring. It may have been dead skin cells though. I'm healing a tongue piercing at the moment and the skin cells are making their appearance. It's perfectly normal and I fine that I can dislodge mine with my finger nails. They come back the next day, but it stops after a while. It has no taste, like you said and doesn't hurt. It's a natural part of tongue piercings.
